Management Contacts
The main focus of our directories series is to provide telecoms professionals with the information they require to contact the decision makers within the global telecoms industry. This directory contains 680 named contacts spread across the management teams of the MNOs of North and South America. The most common job title found in The North and South America Mobile Network Operators Directory 2009 is that of Chief Executive Officer, with the directory containing 89 in total. Other common job titles are Chief Finance Office, Chief Technology Officer and various other C-Level management contacts. The directory does also contain numerous Vice President level contacts but the focus is to provide the senior management contacts. Therefore the directory is best used for contacting the most senior officers within individual MNOs. However, it also works as an excellent starting point in finding key executives within unique departments.
The directory does not provide e-mail addresses or direct dial telephone numbers.
Subscriber data, market position and market share
The North and South America Mobile Network Operators Directory 2009 provides mobile subscriber data for most of the key markets across the region. The main data point is Q408 (December 31st 2008) and where available Q108-Q308 have also been provided. Where made available pre-paid and post-paid data points are included.
Within North America section the main MNOs have been split from the smaller operators due to the significant difference in the size of the operations. For Canada the directory provides subscriber data for Bell Mobility, MTS, Rogers Wireless, SaskTel and Telus. For the USA the directory provides subscriber data for AT&T, Leap Wireless, MetroPCS, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon. Some of the smaller operator profiles also feature subscriber data.

Network information
The focus of The North and South America Mobile Network Operators Directory 2009 is the contact information, but as part of the profiling of each MNO a significant amount of network technology information has been captured. Most profiles contain information about the core network of each MNO, such as GSM 900, etc. Where available this is supplemented with launch dates as well as details about GPRS, EDGE and 3G statuses, such as UMTS, HSDPA and CDMA2000.
Owner profiles
Where a company operates in 3 or more countries across the region they have been included in the owner profiles section. This is a basic profile which contains contact information for the company and details about which MNOs they operate, as well as management contacts at this level. The key benefit to this section is that management contacts are provided who would not have otherwise appeared in the directory as they do not work at a country level.
Research process and accuracy of data
The North and South America Mobile Network Operators Directory 2009 is also volume 2 of Blycroft’s MNO Directory 2009. The global directory is now in its 3rd edition and has grown in size and quality each year.
The first stage of research for the 3rd edition was a complete trawl of multiple telecoms news services. From this research the list of active operations has been amended by removing obsolete operators, adding new launches and adding additional details to profiles which were unavailable for previous editions.
Each volume then takes around a month to fully research. During this time researchers use multiple resources to research each MNO. Information used in The MNO Directory has been taken directly from the mobile network operators at a country level, their parent companies (whether part of a telecommunications group or other investment firm), from industry regulators and mobile market analysts across multiple media. Web portals, annual and interim reports, company press releases, industry statements, contract notifications and general news are all examined to capture accurate and relevant data.
The researchers rely on information provided by operators, parent companies and regulators being accurate. Therefore Blycroft can not be held liable for any inaccuracy in the directory or associated losses where data is found to be incorrect. By purchasing the directory all buyers accept this term and acknowledge that churn within management functions may also result in certain contacts no longer working for their respective MNO. In researching the contact information customer service contacts have been used where no alternative contact information could be found.
