France Telecom has purchased a 51 percent stake in Lightspeed Communications, a Bahrain-based fixed-line operator through Jordan Telecom, its subsidiary. At present, France Telecom owns a 51 percent stake in Jordan Telecom.
However, the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed by the companies.
France telecom has announced its plans to introduce double-play and triple-play services in 2007. The company boasts a subscriber base of 12 million in the Middle East. The company operates in Jordan and Egypt.
